Background of introduction

At Ritsumeikan, we are working to create and provide an environment where students and faculty can feel the joy of learning, and as part of this effort we are focusing on creating an IT environment for communication, including an email system and portal site. Ritsumeikan has decided to shift its communication infrastructure to the cloud due to the spread of smartphones and tablets, the diversification of devices, and the drastic changes in the environment in which students, faculty and staff use e-mail systems, etc.

Ritsumeikan has adopted Office 365 as its cloud communication platform, which allows access privileges to be managed for different attributes such as faculty, staff, and students, and allows for the rapid issuance and deletion of large numbers of accounts, as well as notifications, schedule management, file management, etc. We decided to unify the system to SharePoint.

SBT began migrating Ritsumeikan University staff to a cloud environment in collaboration with World Business Center Co., Ltd., which operates Ritsumeikan's education and research system, and Creotech Co., Ltd., which operates administrative systems. The migration was carried out with faculty and students at each affiliated school, and finally with faculty and students at Ritsumeikan University, and the email system for approximately 80,000 accounts was migrated without delay.
