Security researcher Nobuhiro Tsuji appointed as "Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department Cyber Security Advisor" for the second consecutive term

SB Technology Corp.

SB Technology (hereinafter referred to as "the Company") is pleased to announce that security researcher Nobuhiro Tsuji has been appointed as the "Metropolitan Police Department Cybersecurity Advisor" by the Metropolitan Police Department Cybersecurity Task Force for the second consecutive term starting from fiscal year 2022. The term of office will be two years, starting from October 4, 2024.

In order to respond to the increasingly serious damage occurring in cyberspace, the Metropolitan Police Department appoints individuals with advanced, specialized knowledge and skills and who have made notable achievements in private companies and other fields to the position of "Cybersecurity Advisor." To date, Tsuji has worked in cooperation with the Metropolitan Police Department on cybercrime investigations, disseminating information on damage prevention, and developing human resources.

■ Tsuji's efforts so far

  1. Study Session
In principle, the visits were made once a month, and members of each division of the Metropolitan Police Department attended, with themes such as "Internal corporate fraud, such as violations of the Unfair Competition Prevention Act (violation of trade secrets)" and "The current situation regarding the threat of ransomware." In addition, Tsuji not only spoke as a lecturer, but also shared information about the work each division was working on in rotation. A total of 14 study sessions have been held over the past two years.
  2. Information and consultation
In addition to sharing information on cases that Tsuji has researched (such as "Providing information on criminal investigation methods used by overseas investigative agencies" and "Providing information on vulnerabilities being exploited and targets that are thought to be attackable"), he also responded to individual questions.
  3. External communication
The Metropolitan Police Department provided useful information to citizens in the form of a dialogue about the information it obtained through the case. *.

Comment from Nobuhiro Tsuji, Advisor

I am very pleased to have been reappointed as a Cybersecurity Advisor to the Metropolitan Police Department. However, being in this position for a second consecutive term does not mean that I can continue doing things the same way as before; I believe that I should be expected to achieve better results than ever before. To achieve this, I will make changes based on the issues I have felt during my two years as an advisor, and I will convey the importance of cybersecurity to more people, not only within the Metropolitan Police Department, but throughout the organization of the Metropolitan Police Department, in an easy-to-understand manner.
On a personal note, the police were my heroes when I was a child. I will renew my resolve and work hard to support these heroes over the next two years so that they can play an even more active role.
