SB Technology launches managed security service compatible with VMware Carbon Black

SB Technology Corp. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President ＆ CEO: Shinichi Ata; hereinafter referred to as SBT) has launched VMware Carbon Black, an endpoint protection solution that combines defense and automatic detection functions. 1" will be added to the new monitored products of the managed security service, and the service will begin to be provided as "MSS for EDR (VMware Carbon Black)" from March 27, 2023.

In this service, security analysts monitor, analyze logs, and report on the customer's ``VMware Carbon Black Cloud TM *2'' environment 24 hours a day, 365 days a year from SBT 's Security Monitoring Center (SOC). If we detect suspicious behavior, we will take prompt action on your behalf (such as immediately isolating the suspected device from the network). Additionally, by investigating the impact on other devices, it is possible to shorten the time it takes to recover.

■Background

In recent years, demand for EDR has increased for device security due to the spread of telework and the strengthening of zero trust initiatives. The EDR market in FY2022 is expected to increase by 40% from the previous year to 21 billion yen, and is expected to continue to grow as it is being adopted by medium-sized companies in addition to the traditional user base of major companies. *3. While the adoption of EDR products continues to advance, the operation of EDR products requires specialized expertise, such as detecting potential threats from collected information (logs) and alerts, and analyzing relationships with security events occurring in other environments. Knowledge and experience are required. Furthermore, constantly monitoring them places a heavy operational burden on the personnel at user companies.

Since 2018, SBT has been providing MSS for EDR, a managed security service that monitors and operates EDR products on behalf of customers. In the future, in order to better meet customer needs, we will add VMware Carbon Black Cloud TM, which has a large share in the domestic EDR market, to our list of monitored products.

At SBT 's SOC, security analysts monitor the system 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and if suspicious behavior is detected, we take prompt action such as immediately isolating the device suspected of being compromised from the network.

2) On-demand research

Regarding investigations based on external information (alerts detected by other security devices, external reports, etc.), SBT 's security analysts will investigate the alerts and logs of EDR products on behalf of the customer.

3) Proactive control

When an incident occurs, for customers who have a separate contract for SBT 's managed security service in addition to this service, we will analyze the incident and suppress unauthorized activities using the monitored products of the contract.
