~Promoting the development of a system that works with SIM cards that support electronic certificates to ensure safety from manufacturing to post-shipment~
SoftBank Technology Corp.
SoftBank Technology Corp. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Shinichi Ata, hereinafter referred to as SBT) and Cybertrust Japan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Shinichi Ata, hereinafter referred to as Cybertrust Japan) ) has partnered with Taisys Technologies Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Taipei, Taiwan; CEO: Jason Ho; hereinafter referred to as Taisys) to develop and provide a secure integrated device management platform for mobile devices that combines the technologies of both companies. We would like to inform you that we have concluded a basic agreement.
SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) cards used as communication systems for smartphones, IoT devices, etc. contain identification information for various services and information for decryption. In recent years, technology that allows SIM card information to be remotely rewritten via a wireless network, similar to remote locking when a mobile phone is lost, has been commercialized and is becoming widespread in the M2M market and consumer services around the world. While it is expected that it will be used in a variety of situations in the future, advanced security operation management is required because it handles important information.
Taisys has the technology to write identification information into the tamper-resistant area of SIM cards, and will collaborate with SoftBank Technology 's cloud environment construction, operation and maintenance technology and Cybertrust Japan 's "Secure IoT Platform" technology. We have entered into a basic agreement with the aim of developing a system that ensures the safety of devices from the time they are manufactured to after they are shipped. Taisys' technology has a proven track record in financial services and tax payment applications, such as information associated with My Number written in the tamper-resistant area of SIM cards.
In the future, the three companies will combine their respective technologies of ``ultra-thin SIM,'' ``cloud development and operation,'' ``electronic authentication,'' ``IoT device management,'' and ``embedded OS and secure software update mechanisms'' to create smartphones and IoT devices. We aim to provide a platform that enables service providers that utilize this technology to develop new mobile business models and ensure safety throughout the life cycle of these devices.
The `` Cybertrust Japan IoT Platform,'' an integrated management platform for IoT devices promoted by Cybertrust, securely stores electronic authentication information from the manufacturing stage of the SIM card and verifies the identity of the owner by linking with an authentication system. It allows access to the cloud only from devices whose authenticity has been confirmed, and provides a mechanism for safely distributing updated software released by device manufacturers and service providers. In the future, the three companies will proceed with specific discussions to develop a function that links with services that utilize Taisys' SIM cards.
