SoftBank Technology Corp. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Shinichi Ata, hereinafter SBT) is a subsidiary of Daikin Industries, Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka, President and CEO: Masanori Sogo, hereinafter referred to as SBT). Technology Innovation Center (TIC), the technology development base of Daikin Industries, Ltd., and Aoyama Capital Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Aoyama Capital Co., Ltd.", a wholly owned subsidiary of Aoyama Shoji Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, President and Representative Director: Osamu Aoyama)) In July 2017, we will start a demonstration experiment project in collaboration with Aoyama Capital) to examine the relationship between job type, work environment, and stress felt by people.

1. Project background

While IoT is being used in a variety of fields, such as improving business efficiency in companies and improving the convenience of daily life, there are also expectations for IoT to improve human health management and comfort. Daikin Industries, which has its own vital sensing technology, SBT, which specializes in providing secure cloud environments, and Aoyama Capital, which has a wide customer network, have teamed up to help improve worker health management and comfort, which have been attracting attention in recent years. In order to respond to the needs for creating a workplace environment, we have decided to implement this project with the aim of creating new value using human biological information and IoT.

2. Project Outline

(1) Overview
In this project, a clip-shaped IoT device is attached to a belt to measure biological information such as physical activity information, heart rate information, stress level, and sleep information from monitors working in various workplaces in real time. By accumulating the measured information in the cloud and analyzing it, we can clarify the correlation between the workplace environment and stress level, and the correlation between stress level at work and sleep state at bedtime.

(2) Typical verification items
a: Accuracy of biological information measured by belt-worn IoT device
b: Correlation between job type, work environment and stress level
c: Correlation between stress level and sleep depth

(3) Role of each company

3. Objectives of each company in this project

Daikin Industries, SBT, and Aoyama Capital aim to create the following value based on the verification results obtained through this project.

[About IoT devices used in this project]

  • It has a shape that can be attached to a belt, and the built-in tube-type air pressure sensor detects the slightest vibrations of the body and extracts biological information such as heartbeat, breathing, and body movements.
  • Obtainable data
① Physical activity amount: Measure steps and METs values
② Heartbeat information: Calculate each stress index from the heartbeat interval
③ Stress level: Analyzes fluctuations in heart rate intervals and determines stress level at the time of measurement
④Sleep information: Measure changes in sleep time and sleep depth

[About tube air pressure sensor]

  • This sensor is used in Airitmo, a unique sensing technology that measures minute body vibrations associated with heart movement and measures biological information such as heartbeat and breathing without placing any burden on the person.
  • Determining the state of mind and body from the ``fluctuation'' of the heartbeat interval The state of the mind and body is determined by analyzing the ``fluctuation'' of the heartbeat interval among the detected information.
  • It has been put to practical use in the ``Airitomo Sofa Type,'' a sofa that allows you to measure your stress level just by sitting on it.
