SoftBank Technology and Taishinsha develop and introduce iPad app "KAN・GURU" to Kintetsu Department Store

SoftBank Technology Corp. (President and CEO: Norikazu Ishikawa, headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter referred to as SBT) and Taishinsha Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Satoshi Kamihira, headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, hereinafter referred to as Taishinsha) have developed and released the iPad app "KAN・GURU" for "Kan Guru Media Magazine," a Kansai gourmet information site for the Kintetsu Department Store Online Shop, operated by Kintetsu Department Store Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Keiji Iida, headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, hereinafter referred to as Kintetsu Department Store), which operates mainly in the Kinki region.

"Kintetsu Department Store has been operating an internet shopping site since 2004, aiming to expand its business area from brick-and-mortar stores centered in the Kinki region, and has now turned its attention to the iPad as a new media channel following the web and mobile phones.

The new application "KAN・GURU" is not just a way to purchase listed products, but in order to improve customer service, the application has been expanded to include gourmet information, bargain information, etc., and is based on the concept of being intuitive for anyone to use. Therefore, by adopting joint application development with SBT, which has accumulated know-how in linking e-commerce sites with iPads and can provide total iPad application development, and Taishinsha, which supports everything from application planning and production to website marketing, we were able to quickly provide a highly convenient application that customers can enjoy easily.

Kintetsu Department Store plans to further strengthen its online shop in the future, and SBT and Taishinsha will support and promote this.

The magazine app is made up of three main contents of the Kintetsu Department Store Online Shop: "Kansai Guru Media," "Men's Delicious Club," and the newly released "Tasty Seasonal Calendar." It allows users to access a variety of information, such as recommended gourmet food from Kintetsu Department Store and popular Kansai products, for free via Apple's tablet device, the iPad.
In addition, products featured in the app can be purchased through the online shop (with some exceptions).
