~Moving Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 to the cloud, whose support will end in January 2020~
SoftBank Technology Corp.
SoftBank Technology Corp. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Shinichi Ata; hereafter referred to as SBT) is a subsidiary of Takasago Thermal Engineering Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director, Chairman and CEO: Chikaichi Ata, hereinafter referred to as SBT). We are pleased to announce that Cloud Migration Suite has been adopted to migrate Windows Server 2008/2008 R2, an on-premises environment owned by Atsushi Ouchi (Takasago Thermal Engineering), to Microsoft Azure.
Cloud Migration Suite standardizes the cloud design and construction required for Azure migration and provides SBT best practices that take security into consideration, allowing customers to migrate to the cloud in a short period of time and at low cost with minimal effort. This is a service that makes it possible. We offer two migration services: ``Tool Migration Service,'' which migrates an existing environment to Azure as is, and ``New Deployment Service,'' which upgrades the server OS and builds a new environment.
■Background of introduction
Since its founding in 1923, Takasago Thermal Engineering has been working as a pioneer in the air conditioning equipment industry to optimize the environment of large-scale buildings in Japan and overseas. In ICT, we are actively promoting the use of AI and the cloud, including air conditioning heat load prediction systems. On the other hand, the on-premises environment is running Windows Server 2008/2008 R2, which will reach end of support (EOS) in January 2020, and from a security perspective, it is important to complete the migration by EOS. had become an urgent issue.
Migration targets include a mix of cases where the existing OS environment needs to be migrated and cases where it is possible to migrate to the latest OS environment, and both the "Tool Migration Service" and the "New Deployment Service" are tailored to each case. Cloud Migration Suite was adopted, which enables speedy migration by standardizing cloud design and construction.
Additionally, Microsoft Japan has announced a ``3-year extension of the provision of free security updates through Azure migration'' as migration support, and this will apply when migrating from an on-premises environment of Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 to Azure. Security patches will be distributed even after EOS, so even if new vulnerabilities are discovered, you can respond with program updates, and in the meantime, you can take measures such as building a new environment.
